Magpies Oval/Grandstand – Palmerston

Scope of work: 

We were engaged as Civil Consultants for Halikos's Design and Construct project. Byrne Consultants role included design and documentation of all civil works to do with the grandstand development, oval grading and car park extension.

Project Highlights:

The project brief also included developing a premier grade AFL oval that matched the size of the MCG. The requirements for the oval included substantial subsoil drainage, comprising subsoil drainage pipes in a herringbone configuration under aggregate drainage layer and two graded sand layers and a top layer containing growing medium and grass.

We relocated a major existing storm-water pipeline from under the grandstand and dealt with and provided drainage for the unexpectedly high groundwater in the vicinity of the grand stand.
